Our game is built with that classic "this server is hosted on my friend's overheating laptop"  vibe in mind, albeit on much better hardware. When considering the addition of new features, we at Dormcraft try to preserve the nostalgic feel of Minecraft's original building-focused survival multiplayer communities. To us, this means keeping the game's vanilla features wherever possible, and making changes with the goal of enhancing the survival experience, rather than transforming it.

Unlike many servers, we avoid immersion-breaking game mechanics such as gambling-style micro transactions, coin/gem/token-based currencies, and 'voting' rewards, opting instead to make changes which reward returning players and encourage collaborative survival! Players have permission to build anywhere as soon as they join, and often self-organize towns and settlements due to the ease with which friends can get started building too. Quickly jumping into the game, claiming a plot of land, leveling up your skills by excavating it, and then building a base or a shop to sell your newfound loot is as easy as that. And with a land claim in place, you can come back whenever you want, without worrying about your stuff!
